We’ll first walk down a country lane from Disley station into the grounds of Lyme Park, one of the North West’s top visitor attractions. Set on a hill-side on the western edge of the Peak District, the extensive parkland offers wonderful woodland and moorland walking, with splendid views down to Manchester and beyond. Often to be seen in the park is Lyme’s famous herd of Red Deer, the UK’s largest mammal. We’ll take a look at the beautiful historic Lyme Hall, used as ‘Pemberley’ in the BBC 1995 film of Pride and Prejudice, before returning to Disley via a different route. You need to be fit enough to walk for about three hours including some uphill sections. Train from Manchester Piccadilly. Approximate timings 1345 – 1800.
