Wonderful to meet so many lovely new people and catch up with returning friends on our walk at Styal. Even on such a murky day this walk offers so much: ancient woodland, the wild banks of the beautiful river Bollin, the historic Quarry Bank Mill (a 1784 cotton mill built in the most picturesque surroundings) and the quaint village of Styal itself with its picture-postcard cottages. Today we were even treated to close encounters with Highland Cattle, a breed used to graze and improve the biodiversity of rough grassland. Do join us on our next walk!

Highland Cattle look so cute when young like this one, but look at those horns!
