Marple, Chadkirk and Peak Forest Canal – Sunday 2nd November 2025 (afternoon)

We’ll walk up from Marple Station to follow the Peak Forest Canal westward down the historic ‘flight of locks’ and over the impressive Marple Aqueduct (built in 1794) which spans a beautiful section of the River Goyt. After heading uphill for a wider view of the river valley we’ll drop down to cross the canal again and walk through ancient woodland to reach the historic settlement of Chadkirk. We’ll return along a different section of the canal and through the woods of Brabyns Park. About 3 hours walking. Train from Piccadilly 1245. Return to Manchester 1635.
