Who We Are:
Welcome to our group, intended primarily for international visitors (students, recent graduates, staff and academics at Manchester’s universities and colleges) but is open to all. There is no membership fee nor long-term commitment.
What We Offer:
Our friendly small-group walks offer a unique chance to explore some of the many beautiful outdoor locations within easy reach of Manchester, led by volunteer guides with expert local knowledge. Our walks are not strenuous hikes but do require a normal level of fitness. They also provide an excellent opportunity to make new friends, practice languages and converse with local people, in a healthy, relaxed and alcohol-free environment. There is no ‘hidden agenda’.
How it Works:
Our walks are free but you have to pay your own travel and to make your own way to the destination meeting point (usually a railway station). We will tell you which train to catch. Your guides will meet you at the station starting point of the walk when your train arrives and lead the group back to the station for the return journey. We are often able to arrange for participants to meet before boarding the train in Manchester (via a WhatsApp group).
Most walks require three to four hours walking time. We usually walk on Sundays in winter and additionally on Thursday evenings in spring and summer.

How to book a place:
Every participant must book their place individually. You cannot ‘bring a friend’ we don’t know about. Firstly make sure you understand fully what this activity entails and how our Walks work by reading our About, Essential Information and Legal Bits pages.
To book for a particular walk use the contact form on its event page to request full details. Check your email (and Junk folder) for an automated confirmation that your enquiry has been received. You will then be sent a personal email, usually within 24 hours, with the full walk details and instructions on how to book your place. You do NOT have a place until you have confirmed with the organisers your wish to join us and received their reply. The number of available places is strictly limited and you will be notified if not successful.
