Introducing your guides

Andrew and Anna are a local retired couple with a very international family. They hope to promote harmony between countries and cultures, enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds, love the outdoors, and are proud to introduce international visitors to the many beautiful, natural, historic and scenic locations that can be explored within close proximity to Manchester. Their wish is that the experiences they offer will help our visitors to return to their own countries with a positive impression of the UK and its people.

A history of hospitality

As volunteers for Manchester’s International Society (an independent Registered Charity) Andrew and Anna ran its Countryside Walks program (and other hospitality events) for students for over twenty years until 2023, when the university forced International Society’s closure and the Students Union usurped its name, but offering a vastly reduced range of activities and excluding involvement by community volunteers.

Walking into the Future

Andrew and Anna still organize the free guided walks for students and visitors but now do so independently. With our new website we hope once again to be able to reach out to members of higher education institutions right across the city.
